Tao Te Ching Chapter 16-2 Guard stillness

Today's Tao

Guard stillness firmly. (Ch.16)

Let's decode this.

It means, "Do not act until it is really necessary".

Naoto Matsumoto adds:

Chuang Tzu's famous maxim «Do not move until you are forced to. 迫而後動»
--荘子 外篇 刻意第十五--

Let's repeat this sentence every time someone tells us we are lazy.

What's wrong with being lazy?

-You can find Chuang Tzu's maxim for lazy guys in «the Outer Chapters», which might not have be written by the philosopher himself. Never mind. The Japanese have been respecting the book for more than a millennium. Let's make robots work while we chill out.
