The photo above is a mass of Japanese fortune-telling sheets. You pay a small sum of money for the paper which tells your fortune.
If you are not happy about your future, you tie the piece of paper on a branch of a tree in the precinct of a shrine or a temple.
Thus, you leave your bad fortune behind and forget it. Everything is pragmatic in the country of a Nintendo. If you don't like the result, you push the "Reset" button.
Here, interestingly, we see the paper tied on the strings. It seems that the people of the temple got sick and tired of cleaning the mess on the trees and invented a better system.
