In this «Tao Te Ching Chapter 53 Thief's luxury», We discuss an important Zen concept about the hologram. It is «Gabyo 画餅 / a painted rice-cake».
First, let's hear what Zen Master Kyogen Chikan (香厳智閑 [Hsing-yen Chih-hsien / Xiangyan Zhixian]) say.
"A painted rice-cake does not satisfy hunger."
You may agree, but Zen Master Dogen doesn't really.
★★★
Dogen says in his Shobogenzo 正法眼蔵: "If it is not a painted rice-cake, it must not be a remedy to satisfy hunger."
What does this mean?
