«My Koan Horoscope»

(available in Taoísmo en Español)

1. Let it work, but don't rely on it. / ¡Déjelo trabajar, pero no dependa en él! (Ch. 51 / Bad luck)

2. This same being is called Dark Depth. / Esto es lo que se llama Profundidad Oscura.
(Ch.1 / Bad luck)

3. You should call it the mother of the world under the sky. / Podemos decir que es la madre del mundo bajo el cielo.  (Ch.52 / Tao)

«Interpretation»

Bad luck - Bad luck - Tao. Do you wonder why you live in this world? Do you wonder what you can leave in this world after your death? Do you wonder if you can leave any sort of contribution in this world or you will just disappear without any trace of your personal existence? Do you wonder whether your life is a meaningless waste of time and energy? Let life work without your unquenchable desire to control it. Let life go as it goes. How? By accepting that selfness is a man-made concept without having been tested a lot. No one has really dissected a self from another. Particularly in some oriental countries, the origin of the modern-day sufferings was the introduction of the occidental concept of an individual self and its integration to their legal and, therefore, social system. People there were much closer to Mu ga 無我 (=No Self) before they were given a TV set, a car, and a hamburger. They were not aware why they lived, but they did not question to themselves why. Now you have to be conscious of your life time income or achievement. Is our history progressing or regressing? In fact, there is neither progress nor regress in Tao. There is neither time nor self, either. Let's go back to «the state before the father and the mother ARE born» (=Bumo misho izen 父母未生以前) in order to answer our personal questions. It is like asking the world leaders to go back to the state before Federal Reserve System was born in order to fix the world's banking problems.

«My Koan Horoscope»

(available in Taoísmo en Español)

1. Our side dare not advance one inch, but retreat one foot. (Ch.69 / Good luck)

2. Though something is done, he does not rely on it. (Ch.2 / Bad luck)

3. Once up on a time, somebody attained One. (Ch.39 / Little luck)

«Interpretation»

Good luck - Bad luck - Little luck. Do you wonder whether you should advance or retreat? Do you wonder if you will start a new relationship with someone or not? Do you wonder if you will end this relationship with an unfaithful partner and leave him? Do you wonder if an emotional night between a man and a woman is good enough to begin a new life? Do you wonder if a physical intercourse is the beginning of a spiritual intercourse? Do you feel sick and tired of a game of give-and-take between a couple? Lao Tzu don't like advancing. He prefers retreating. Even after a perfect night between a man and a woman is completed, Lao Tzu asks the couple not to rely on the relationship. Once upon a time, Taoism was pure and simple. Now, it is tarnished with adorned expressions that confuse us. They were thought tools at the beginning. They are called Hoben 方便 in Zen Buddhism. Then, they started running wild, insisting their own philosophical independence from Lao Tzu's teachings. It is like a stranded relationship where a man and a woman fool around but never be able to abandon it. Zen Master Dogen shows us a solution in Butsukojoji 仏向上事 chapter of his Shobogenzo 正法眼蔵:

"What we call Hoben is every Buddha, every ancestor."

方便といふは、諸仏なり、諸祖なり。

What does this mean? Your life, including love life, is the holographic manifestation of Buddha's Love. Why does it appear? Because it is a thought tool or a tool to teach Buddhism. What is the teachings of Buddhism? It doesn't matter if it is Taoism, Buddhism, Shintoism, or whatever. Life, of course including love life, teaches us how the mechanism between Love and Hologram functions. How does it work? Life (=Hologram) stimulates you. You emit Tao/Love/Buddha. (Plus, please don't forget that true You are Tao itself.) Now you know why you live through love.

«My Koan Horoscope»

(available in Taoísmo en Español)

1. When you lose it, it excites you. / Cuando lo pierde, le excita a él. (Ch.13 / Middle luck)

2. No one does them. / Nadie los hace. (Ch.78 / Emptiness)

3. At the dark depth of this Dark Depth, lies the gateway to the various surprises of Tao. / En el fondo oscuro de esta Profundidad Oscura, se encuentra la puerta del acceso a las distintas sorpresas del Tao. (Ch.1 / Little luck)

«Interpretation»

Middle luck - Emptiness - Little luck. Do you wonder why one has to lose someone or something? When you lose someone close to you, you feel sad, asking yourself why the person has left you for someone or somewhere very far, from where he or she will never return. Do you blame yourself, telling yourself that, if you were different, the person would stay where you were? Or do you get angry, accusing the person of selfishness or insulting the world with good old swear words of imperfection or injustice? Why do we lose someone or something? The answer is the same one as you ask me why a hologram comes and goes like the clouds in the sky. A person or a thing appears in our holographic life, asking the only one thing: Love (=Tao, =Buddha). When its task is completed, it goes away. The expression "go away" is not appropriate in fact because it is always there as Love/Tao. Remember? True You are Love/Tao, too. So, you are always with the person or the thing. The split between you and the others do not exist. Everyone is a Kami god. Everything is a Kami god. They are there to ask you to send Love/Tao because without it no Kami can be projected. In other words, separation never exists anywhere. Separation is our own holographic creation. We are one. We are Love/Tao. Many little Kami come and go, asking you to circulate Love/Tao. If you send Love/Tao accepting the loss, it makes many little Kami happy because you have understood their message no matter how painful it feels.

«My Koan Horoscope»

(available in Taoísmo en Español)

1. The reason why big rivers and the sea can be the king of hundreds of valleys is that the former is well down the latter. Therefore, they can be the king of hundreds of valleys. / La razón por la cual los grandes ríos y el mares pueden ser el rey de cientos de valles es que los primeros están precisamente al pie de los segundos. Por tanto, pueden ser el rey de cientos de valles. (Ch.66 / Good luck)
2. Five Tastes make man's mouth injured. / Los Cinco Sabores hieren la boca del hombre.
(Ch.12 / Good luck)
3. If gods were not spiritual, they might rest. / Si los dioses no fueran espirituales, podrían tomar un descanso. (Ch.39 / Emptiness)

«Interpretation»

Good luck - Good luck - Emptiness. Do you wonder why all those oriental philosophies are incomprehensible? They talk about rivers, valleys, tastes, eyes, a storage, a king, and femaleness, but what they are telling you is simply vague. Do you get frustrated once in a while, feeling: "Why don't they tell us straight? Are they hiding something behind all these mythic expressions?" Not, really. Imagine how you can explain to a 10-year-old child the transaction mechanism among arms deals, drug trade, and tax evasion. Imagine if you can well explain how the internet works to an  80-year-old Japanese grandmother taking care of a Shintoist shrine in a sacred forest of many Kami with a more-than-1500-year history. Simply because they did not have the word «hologram», our predecessors had to invent all these metaphors to transmit the concept. Thanks to the word, now we can say simply and clearly that the world is a hologram and our life is the sequence of holograms. It is easy, isn't it? Then, let's swap the roles. It is your turn to explain the concept of the hologram to the fore-mentioned Japanese grandmother. How can you do it? The best way is to use something that she knows well about: Kami. Instead of saying that the holographic world is the manifestation of the sacred energy Tao/Love, you should say that there are plenty of Kami everywhere, sending plenty of Love/Tao to everyone. A Kami can be your ancestor, a dead cat, a stealth fighter jet, or anything. Even a band of guitarists with cute baby face vocalists. This concept is called "yaoyorozu no kami gami 八百万の神々 (=eight million gods)". The Japanese grandmother is a Kami god. Thanks, gramma, for living and leading us. You are a Kami god, too. Thank you, the one who is reading this, for being perfect although some of you might not want to accept your perfection. I thank you personally for being perfect and emitting plenty of Love/Tao.

1. Big's completion seems missing something. / Parece que falta algo en la finalización del Grande.
(Ch.45 / Little luck)

2. Dull the sharpness. / ¡Desafile lo afilado! (Ch. 56 / Little luck)

3. Good tying doesn't need either strings nor cords, but no one can untie it. / Atar bien no necesita ni cuerdas ni sogas, pero nadie lo puede desatar. (Ch.27 / Good luck)

«Interpretation»

Little luck - Little luck - Good luck. Do you wonder why you have to mimic the strange oriental gestures that are so difficult to copy? Do you wonder why you have to accept all the strict rules in your spiritual discipline in order to imitate something that has nothing to do with your own culture? Do you wonder why you have to listen to your Zen teachers who cannot speak Japanese while politely accepting their excuses that all the important teachings have been translated into English and Spanish? Do you wonder why they have the right to order you to do as they want you to do, saying: "If you cannot do as we do, you are not good enough to be a «chosen» disciple. Go somewhere else and get lost."? Please learn Japanese. It is the easiest solution. If you can read Zen Master Dogen's «Shobogenzo» in Japanese, you can easily say how ridiculous some translations of his teachings sound. Let's see the title of the book. Although we have plenty of fancy and incomprehensible translations, the title in Japanese clearly tells us that the right teachings (=manifestation) are your hologram (=eye storage). In other words, your world is the teachings and the answers at the same time. Please don't waste your life looking for an exotic black magic. Start reading the original. Once you finish reading Zen Master Dogen's true words, of course, there will be nothing wrong with squatting a little. As we have discussed already, even at the moment of Satori, you feel something is missing. More precisely, you are constantly living Satori, so you often feel something is missing. Dull your appetite of exoticism. And remember Tao has already installed invisible strings and cords to embrace you through your occidental and materialistic world.

2. The respect to Tao, the honor to the attainment. / El respeto al Tao, el honor al logro.
(Ch.51 / Middle luck)

3. Does one have to fear what people fear? / ¿Hay que temer lo que la gente teme?
(Ch.20 / Little luck)

«Interpretation»

Middle luck - Middle luck - Little luck. Do you wonder why you have to work? When you wake up in the morning, you think about your office, the colleagues, the boss, and the task you must complete immediately. You just want to cry out: "I hate my work!". Do you wonder why you have to go to work? Why do you have to put up with all these? To earn money? Money lost its gold standard long time ago. Oil seems to stop functioning as a monetary stabilizer. Money has become just "clicks" on your computer key board. Don't you wonder why you have to work for the sake of a few clicks? Then, let's ask ourselves: "What is work?". The answer seems familiar. Work is part of your hologram. What does this mean? It means that it is a manifestation of Love/Tao. Yes, it is. Your work is Love's manifestation! Why do you have to hate your work? You are receiving Love/Tao through the work as well as any momento of your life in the hologram. You should receive Love/Tao with joy, respect, and gratitude. Why don't you love your work as much as a Zen monk in the rock garden of a Buddhist temple while he is arranging the gravel. Give more importance to the act that you call work. Working is more than "working". Working has nothing to do with "a few clicks". Hating your work is hating yourself. Loving your work is loving yourself.

1. Therefore, without mind, you can see the surprising Tao. (Ch.1 / Good luck)

2. Of the two, one is merit and the other is demerit. (Ch.73 / Bad luck)

3. Big's vessel will never be completed. (Ch.40 / Bad luck)

«Interpretation»

Good luck - Bad luck - Bad luck. Do you wonder why you are such a late bloomer? At school, the others grew up much faster than you did? At college, the others advanced much faster than you did? At work, the others got promoted much faster than you did? In life, the others get rich faster than you do? Do you get jealous? Please do not! Each person has got his speed to grow up and the right moment to bloom. Many aged people will agree that, in the end, life treats us equally. There is a Japanese well-known saying: 大器晩成 [tai ki ban sei]; a man of big caliber matures late. You can find the original text in Tao Te King, but its interpretation has been "modernized" for more than one thousand years. In the days of Kami two thousand years ago, people were not aware of their own self. They were not isolated psychologically. They were one. Without their personal "mind", of course, they were not fooled by the appearance of anything, in other words, they were seeing Tao's manifestation as it is without surprise. How can you distinguish merit from demerit if you don't have your own self? Who will be the recipient of the merit? In conclusion, we have to replace the modern interpretation of the phrase with the original one; 大器晩成 [tai ki ban sei] Big's vessel will never be completed. Never completed? Isn't it hopeless? No. Not at all. It means: "Nothing is completed. Everything is forever. Therefore, everything is perfect."

2. By doing so, The life of everything; grasses or trees, is soft and fragile. / La vida de todo, las hierbas o los árboles, es suave y frágil. (Ch.76 / Middle luck)

3. Be the valley under the sky. / ¡Sea el valle bajo el cielo! (Ch.28 / Little luck)

«Interpretation»

Bad luck - Middle luck - Little luck. Do you wonder why femininity is important in Taoism? There is a Taoist expression such as Dark Depth Female 玄牝 [gen pi], but there is no Dark Depth Male. «A big country is the intercourse of the world.» «A big country is the female of the world.» When you look at the current world, you might have to wonder what "intercourse" and "female" mean in this context. Dark Depth signifies Tao. Then, what is "Tao" Female? It is an attitude to "activate" Tao or to be one with Tao, that is to say, to remember that true You are Tao. In Taoism, intercourse and femininity are symbols of non-resistance and total acceptance. The important thing is that everything in the world takes place in a hologram. Taoist intercourse is the intercourse between the hologram and Tao. In Zen Buddhism, it is called Face transmission. It occurs on your face between your own self and Tao/Love/Buddha. Dark Depth Female is the attitude to consciously let it happen, by accepting all as catalyst. Women and men, war and peace, fortune and misfortune, you and non-you; everything exists to make this intercourse happen in order to circulate Tao/Love/Buddha. The intercourse between a man and a woman is a metaphor, or part of the teachings. Zen Master Dogen says: "Sometimes it uses the letters of one hundred grasses; sometimes it uses the letters of ten thousand trees." By accepting all with the least possible resistance, not to mention without resisting your wish to resist, you can receive and emit, in short, circulate Tao/Love/Buddha with the least possible doubt.

2. If you want to weaken something, you must strengthen it for a while. (Ch.36 / Tao)

3. It goes back to nothingness. (Ch. 14 / Middle luck)

«Interpretation»

Little luck - Tao - Middle luck. Do you wonder why you don't have time? Do you wonder why you are always pressed for time and, probably, money? Do you feel tired of hearing some Zen masters say: "You have to be detached from time and, particularly, from money."? Do you wonder why you have to suffer the intense pain of contradiction, while being aware of the importance of the detachment from the financial and social engagement? First of all, it is not your fault. Secondly, there is an interesting solution to think about. Thirdly, the better you understand that the world is moving from a numeral civilization to a post-numeral (therefore, non-numeral) one, the less you have to suffer. Remember? The world is your stimulant, which some Buddhists call their prayers, in other words, living text books to learn. Our holographic world is telling us to move from numbers to post-numbers (non-numbers). What is the solution, then? Why don't we look to the Japanese tradition of small Kami? Time and space are concepts to reconstruct your holographic memories in the "mind". If they are too abstract, let's call them «small Kami of time» and «small Kami of space». We can even have «small Kami of money». When you are pressed for time or money, you can interpret the situation as a calling from «small Kami of time» or «small Kami of money». Why do they call you? The answer is always the same: they want Love/Tao from you.

3. Profound, it looks like the origin of everything. / Profundo, me parece que es el origen de todo.
(Ch.4 / Emptiness)

«Interpretation»

Middle luck - Good luck - Emptiness. Do you wonder what «doing nothing» is? Do you wonder if you are not allowed  to move or breathe? Some people say one has to control his sentiments, particularly his anger. Some people even pay multi-hundreds of dollars to a meditation center simply to be calm. You may wonder if you can buy your mind's calmness for a fixed monthly payment? If so, you may want to find a spiritual discount store or a religious 100-yen shop (or dollar shop) to control your personal budget spending. A Chinese Zen master Sekimon Etetsu 石門慧徹 Shimen Huiche says: "Although everyone in the county wants to buy it, there is no way. 蓋國買門無" But you cannot buy what? A temporary calmness made in an ex-communist country? All right. Let's answer the questions. «Doing nothing» is accepting that you are not in fact doing anything individually whatever you do. Everything takes place in your hologram; true You have nothing to do with it except that it stimulates you to circulate your true being, which is called Tao or Love among other names. You cannot buy the hologram because money exists inside it. True You/Tao/Love > Hologram > Money (although there is no space in Tao). Do not mix Love/Tao with Hologram as you cannot mix money with wealth. (Or rather, the difference between money and wealth exists in order to make us learn how the Tao/Hologram mechanism functions.)

3. And can you be like a baby? / ¿Y puede ser como un bebé? (Ch.10 / Emptiness)

«Interpretation»

Tao - Bad luck - Emptiness. Do you wonder why you exist? Do you wonder why you have to live while putting up with such a cruel and meaningless world? Do you wonder why life doesn't treat you as nicely as the others? The answer is simple. Probably, it is too simple for you to accept the answer with joy. For some intellectuals and those who think they are more intelligent than the others, life has to be complicated. Here we have a Buddhist concept called 法華 Hokke, which means «the flower of Tao's manifestation». This is another name of the hologram, which is the translation of Genzo from «Shobogenzo» by Zen Master Dogen. Your life and world, including your body and mind, are the flower that stimulate true You (=Tao) to keep emitting Love/Tao in order to sustain Tao/Love. This is why you exist because true You are Tao. True You are neither your body nor mind. (Understanding and accepting this, that is to say, living with it is called Shin Jin Datsu Raku 身心脱落 in Zen Buddhism. It literally signifies Body, Mind [or mechanism/Shin(Jin)], Undress, Drop. Please remember this important Zen concept as well as  法華 Hokke.) A hologram is projected every moment. It stimulates Tao and dies every moment. Being stimulated, Tao gives birth to another hologram. This is the true reincarnation. Be careful! There are plenty of fantasies and interpretations attached to this simple mechanism, and nowadays some people believe these fancy toppings rather than the valuable content. To avoid this trap, forget the superficial appearance and stay with thick Tao. When you don't know what to do, be like either a baby or water.

Emptiness - Emptiness - Middle luck. Do you wonder why you have to live under constant danger? Do you wonder whether there is a place you can feel safe? Do you wonder why there are bad people although Lao Tzu asks you not to judge any? "Good is good. Bad is bad. It is crystal clear," some say. Then, you have to think that people often fight each other while both parties believe that the other are wrong. Both can be right simultaneously? A 13th-century Japanese Jodo Shinshu (Pure land Shin school) Buddhist, Shinran, believed that evil people had better chance of becoming Buddha. "Even good people will become Buddha, not to mention evil people." («Tannisho 歎異抄», Chapter 3) What! Evil people are better than good people! Not exactly. Evil people are the extended part of your own self as well as good people are. You are not just your own self. You are you and the others put together. You are never isolated. Your own self is part of the holographic scenery you see, and true You are Tao/Love. Though the hologram and Tao follow each other, they are not the same. Once you stop mixing the two (Hologram and Tao; Your own self and true You), everything will be crystal clear.

3. Before and after follow each other. / "Antes" y "después" siguen uno a otro. (Ch.2 / Middle luck)

«Interpretation»

Middle luck - Middle luck - Middle luck. Do you wonder why you cannot get along with your family? Do you wonder why they do not love each other as a family did before Internet and a smartphone were invented. Your family members do not bother you at all either morally or materially while they treat you as a stranger until a legal issue appears between you and them. Do you wonder if the concepts like children's filial duty and parent's merciful "love" still exist in the heads of the ex-flower-children grandparents? Watch out! When Lao Tzu assembled Tao Te Ching, the filial duty and the merciful "love" were pejoratives. He thought that they were something artificial and not harmonious in the natural state of a family. Therefore, although love is realized somehow, the sage doesn't rely on love because he knows the difference between love and Love/Tao. A romantic or carnal love is a kind of manifestation of Love/Tao, but, if you confuse the first and the second, you may reach a strange conclusion that the personal sentiment of possessing another is Love/Tao. A movie-like love and Love/Tao can follow each other as a bad luck and a good luck can. Keep emitting Love/Tao no matter what happens. Sometimes, the middle luck is the best luck in our practical life.

«Interpretation»

Good luck - Tao - Emptiness. Do you wonder why you always feel something is missing? Do you wonder why the world seems so imperfect although Taoists and Zen Buddhists say that it is the manifestation of Tao/Love? Do you wonder why the others are so perfect while you are so imperfect? Lao Tzu says: "Tao (=Love) is hidden at the bottom of everything." If you accept what he says, you can see all the phenomena in the world differently without judging them into good or bad. It is Satori. In fact, whether you accept it or not, you are in the state of Satori all the time. "If I am perfect, why do I feel something is always missing?," you may want to ask me. Then, I reply: "Congratulations!". Please remember this: "When the manifestation fills up the body/mind mechanism, it feels that something is missing somehow." (Zen Master Dogen, Genjokoan 現成公案, «Shobogenzo») In other words, feeling "something is missing" is a good sign that you are perfect. It is called «Big's fear». You are connected to the rest of the world constantly because you are the world. Do you feel uncomfortable about this idea? In that case, remember three Kami, which we discussed in another article two days ago. Ujigami (Kami of your ancestors) will give you the stability in your chronological relation to the holographic world. Small Kami in your surroundings, the stability in your spacial relation to the world. Kami-san (the wife), the stability in your personal relation to the world. (If you are a woman, you are the center, so love yourself completely. If you are a man, love the matriarchal center. In both cases, you are loving your holographic world alike.) Of course, there are plenty of other targets to send Love to. They are easier and more visible examples. If the «Big's fear» is too uncomfortable to bear, use Kami targets, and it will remind you of «Tao = Love = true You».

«My Koan Horoscope»

(available in Taoísmo en Español)

1. After man's intelligence and discrimination have appeared, we have great hypocrisy. / Después que la inteligencia y el discernimiento del hombre han aparecido, tenemos una gran hipocresía.
(Ch.18 / Little luck)

2. Do it before it has come to exist. / Hágalo antes de que haya llegado a existir. (Ch.64 / Little luck)

3. Even if you try to hear Tao, you can't hear it. / Incluso si se intenta oír el Tao, no lo puede oír.
(Ch.35 / Little luck)

«Interpretation»

Little luck - Little luck - Little luck. Do you wonder why the others are very selfish while you are as altruistic as you can in the world of the harsh economic competition and the constant survival with realpolitik? Do you wonder how hypocritical some presidents and vice-presidents in non-governmental organizations are when they do not show the slightest hesitation to transfer to their Swiss bank accounts the money donated to save Amazonian rain forests, poor African children, or miserable urban souls lost in dwindling consumption and increasing waste. So-called intelligence and discernment are the mother of hypocrisy. Therefore, let's think about how economy functioned before it came to exist as a study subject. Economy has been and will be part of your precious hologram, in other words, the manifestation of Love/Tao. Economy is Love?! Yes, it is. It has been called  Matsuri, which is a Japanese term for the festivities, in general, organized and patronized by a Shintoist temple. After the harvest, the farmers and fishermen donate their foods to the temple, priests and villagers host a ritual, and the foods are eaten and distributed to all. In the process of Matsuri, there is no intervention by a currency or a middleman. Nothing special, right? You can find a Matsuri around you with another term in your language. In Japanese, «Ma» means space; «tsuri» signifies suspension. Matsuri means «the one suspended in the space». This is the hologram.

«My Koan Horoscope»

(available in Taoísmo en Español)

1. Do emptiness perfectly. / ¡Haga Ud. el vacío a la perfección! (Ch.16 / Bad luck)

2. Being tired and without energy, as if I had no place to go back to. / Estando cansado y sin energía, como si no tuviera ningún lugar para volver. (Ch.20 / Bad luck)

3. All go back to Tao, but it doesn't try to be their master, so we can call it Big. / Todo vuelve al Tao, pero el Tao no se hace su jefe. Por eso, lo podemos nombrar "grande". (Ch.34 / Emptiness)

«Interpretation»

Bad luck - Bad luck - Emptiness. Do you wonder why you are tired and without energy when you are alone, being sick of wearing a social mask to keep your status, relationship, or company? Do you wonder why you don't have any real friends or true family, sort of a shelter you can really count on or you can go back to anytime, particularly when you have difficulty in your life. Are you upset when Lao Tzu says things like "Do emptiness perfectly", feeling that you are more than empty? Without a Taoist's help, you are a champion of everyday emptiness. Do you wonder why Taoism and Zen Buddhism are too abstract to apply to life? Then, I would like to ask you whether you have heard the Japanese word Kami, which means «deity» in Japanese. There are many Kami (plural) in Shintoism of Japan. Your town or village has got many Kami. Your house or apartment hosts many little Kami. They adore a corner in your room. Your ancestors are Kami, too. Kami-san, which literally means Mr/Mrs deity, signifies «My wife»  in colloquial Japanese. There is neither space nor time in Tao. If you desperately need spacial and chronological bearings in your holographic world, why don't you use these Kami as tools that give you directions? Little Kami on the corner (for example, Zashiki-warashi) can be your spacial bearings. Your ancestors are Ujigami (Clan Kami), and take care of your chronological ones. The matriarchal center is Kami-san, the wife. Without fatigue or a mask, as reliable shelters, many little Kami will welcome you. They are your targets to send Love/Tao in your hologram.

«My Koan Horoscope»

(available in Taoísmo en Español)

1. No crime is bigger than greed. (Ch.46 / Little luck)

2. What you can name is the mother of all the material beings. (Ch.1 / Middle luck)

3. Everyone in the world knows what is beautiful, but it is just ugly. Everyone knows what is good, but it is just no good. (Ch.2 / Middle luck)

«Interpretation»

Little luck - Middle luck - Middle luck. Do you wonder why you cannot earn more money although you pray everyday to the most fashionable oriental god among the coolest artists and the highest paid professionals? Do you wonder why you cannot suppress your unquenchable greed forcing you to conquer the world financial market while sacrificing innocent citizens who haven't got the slightest concept of a tax haven. Is greed a crime? "No crime is bigger than greed," says Lao Tzu. Then, you might wonder if crime is evil. Zen Master Dogen answers: "No one can ever do anything evil." You might want to sigh, thinking: "Once again, here comes an oriental contradiction." No, I am afraid not. It is not contradictory. "What you can name" is the visible world, which Master Dogen call "mountains, rivers, and lands" ([sen ga daichi] 山河大地), that is to say, a hologram. It is neither good nor bad. It is just a catalyst. Whether it is greed or crime, it is part of the hologram. Don't judge it. Just thank it. Thanking the hologram including your own thoughts and feelings (for example, "Thank you, my doubts."), do whatever you do naturally as if you were water.

«My Koan Horoscope»

(available in Taoísmo en Español)

1. Thanks to this emptiness, the room is useful. / Gracias a este vacío, la habitación es útil.
(Ch.11 / Emptiness)

2. I have big trouble because I have my body. / Tengo un gran problema porque tengo mi cuerpo.
(Ch.13 / Emptiness)

3. Though we can't understand him, let us force ourselves to picture what he is like. / Aunque no podemos entenderlo, debemos esforzarnos en describir lo que es. (Ch.15 / Bad luck)

«Interpretation»

Emptiness - Emptiness - Bad luck. Do you wonder who you are psychologically? Do you wonder what you are socio-economically? Do you wonder if the oriental Nothingness really exists? Isn't it contradictory? You might suspect that behind the enigmatic oriental smile they are hiding something and inventing a religious machine to steal occidental money. Well, I personally understand your spiritual irritation and financial frustration. Today's Koan Horoscope will answer your questions once and for all. Nothingness = Tao = Buddha = Love = True You. Your body and mind are not true You. They are part of your holographic world like mountains, rivers, and lands. But don't despise your hologram (=room) because it is the manifestation of Tao (=emptiness). Your trouble is part of the hologram like your body, so accept it with plenty of Love/Tao. If you are aware that the trouble is part of a hologram, it must be easier to accept it as the catalyst to stimulate the circulation of Love/Tao. Tao projects Hologram. Hologram stimulates Tao. While projecting Hologram, Tao emits itself. It is called Nothingness because there is neither space nor time in Tao. Is it difficult to picture this mechanism? If so, just remember this: "Buddha and you are the same." (Zen Master Dogen, Genjokoan 現成公案, «Shobogenzo»)

1. Thus, something can be useful because nothingness is working. / Por tanto, algo puede ser útil porque «nada» funciona. (Ch.11 / Bad luck)
2. It stays at the place which many people think is bad. / Se queda en el lugar donde mucha gente piensa que es malo. (Ch.8 / Emptiness)
3. It's simply unsatisfactory. That's why they are not satisfied. / Es simplemente insatisfactoria. Es por eso que no están satisfechos. (Ch.72 / Bad luck)

«Interpretation»

Bad luck - Emptiness - Bad luck. Do you wonder why Taoism or Zen Buddhism is difficult to apply to your life? Do you say to yourself that you are just a beginner and haven't really spent enough time practicing it like a master in the exotic costume with more than 30 years of experience behind him? Or, do you regret refusing to pay when they told that you hadn't reached the enlightenment or Satori because your financial contribution was not enough? If so, please remember that nothingness/Tao is always working behind everything. In other words, you are living in the Satori enlightenment all the time without any effort. Never ever think that you have to go through a superhuman mortification before you get there. Please don't think that the practice will make you better either than before or than the others. Water stays in the bad place, not in a better place. Do you feel uneasy? Congratulations! It is exactly what you feel when you remember you are always one with Tao. With this «Big's fear», let's have more Love/Tao circulate. This is the Taoist economy. You are more than ready to apply it to your life.

2. It is not brilliant even if it is above it. / Aun si está encima de ella, no es brillante.
(Ch. 14 / Emptiness)

3. Heaven's Tao reduces excess and supplies what it lacking. / El Tao del cielo reduce exceso y provee lo que falta. (Ch.77 / Tao)

«Interpretation»

Little luck - Emptiness - Tao. Do you wonder how the human beings can improve this world full of injustice? Do you shed tears when you see the image of suffering children or animals on the TV set? Or do you wonder how the Big Brother manipulates you with some subliminal messages incorporated in a video game? If so, please ask yourself if «Five Colors are not making you blind»? In other words, aren't you infuriated with some external signals sent by some superficial beings? Please remember an useful and indispensable Buddhist concept called Hossho 法性, Manifestation of Tao's nature. 1) Don't get upset by what you see, especially on TV. 2) Remember that it is Tao's manifestation (=hologram). So, don't judge it. 3) Accept all the hologram with gratitude, while sending Love… Well, do you still want to keep saying silly things like: "We have to improve this world"?

3. He doesn't boast. So, he is the best. / No hace alarde. Por eso, es lo mejor. (Ch.22 / Middle luck)

«Interpretation»

Middle luck - Middle luck - Middle luck. Do you wonder if the governments and the bankers are doing the right thing? Do you want to cry out that they are making horrendous decisions and disastrous choices? Then, don't you wonder what Lao Tzu might do if he was in their shoes? Let's look at Today's Koan horoscope. «Middle luck - Middle luck - Middle luck» shows you the importance of being in the middle without making a drastic decision, or rather, without making any decision. Aren't you obsessed with «doing the right thing» all the time? The history has shown us that all the horrifying man-made disasters were created while they are «doing the right thing». Be like water. Lao Tzu's best political and financial strategy is «doing nothing». It is not prohibiting any movement of your body or mind. It is to do anything while knowing that you are doing nothing in your holographic world whatever you are doing. Please remember the baby Buddha's first words right after his birth: "(You are) the only respectable being, (who projects your hologram)."

3. The weak beats the strong. / Lo débil vence lo fuerte. (Ch.78 / Middle luck)

«Interpretation»

Tao - Bad luck - Middle luck. Do you wonder why some people are so obsessed with money? Do you wonder why you are always short of money? Or, do you wonder how you can hide something valuable; gold, diamonds or any sort of treasure? Then, don't underestimate your enemy. Which enemy? Your biggest enemy is your dichotomy. In order to simplify your situations, don't you classify them into good or bad? Remember your true treasures are not tangible. In Taoism, 1) Sending Love, 2) Wasting nothing, and 3) Trying not to be the first. In Buddhism, 1) Buddha, 2) Manifestation, and 3) Company/Monk. Is it difficult to be a fool who thinks that money is Tao/Buddha's manifestation?

Little luck - Emptiness - Tao. Do you wonder when the next financial crisis will take place? Do you want to ask any financial gurus how you can avoid any damage caused by the fluctuating oil prices and on-going regional warfare? Do you want to look to any concept if you can profit from the current socio-economic situation, saying: "It doesn't matter if it is a voodoo economy or hoodoo sociology."?If it is the case, why don't you try the Taoist economy and Zen sociology? Neither Lao Tzu nor Zen Master Dogen is a prophet, so both don't ask you to gain, predicting what will happen next, but they teach you how have to treat the economy and the society. Accept all as they are. Then, everything transform itself naturally, without your judgement. For you project others, and they define you.

«Interpretation»

Emptiness - Tao - Bad luck. Do you wonder why you don't understand Zen (or Tao) at all after all these years of painful practice? Have you identified the principal cause of your spiritual stranding? Why does the oriental philosophy exclude you? As usual, the answer is simple: it is not Zen (or Tao) that refuses you, but you refuse Zen (or Tao). Please ask yourself whether you can accept the idea that things form your own self. That is to say, neither your mind nor body belong to you; your own self is part of the scenery around you. That's why Zen Master Dogen says: "Your own self is like mountains, rivers, and lands." Accept this first, and think about the rest of the teachings later. Now you are ready to tackle your highest attainment, which is as rich as the nothingness.
