Tao Te Ching Chapter 76-10 Hoben gate / Soft & Weak

Today's Tao

The soft and weak stays high. (Ch.76)

"The soft and weak" thing is a hologram, which stays high, that is to say, at the superficial level.

If you want to mature spiritually, what do you have to do?

Meditate for thirty years?

No.

You can mature right now right here.

All you have to do is to open the gate of Dark Depth Female. (☞See The root of heaven and earth 6-3 and Tao Te Ching Chapter 6 Valley God)

It is also called "the gate of various surprises" (☞See Reverse Thinking 1-9 and Tao Te Ching Chapter 1 Gateway to Tao)

and

"Heaven's gate" (☞See Tao Te Ching Chapter 10 Magic words).

In Buddhism, Buddha calls it "the gate of Hoben 方便門",

which means "the gate of Buddha's tool to enlighten people".

(Shohojisso 諸法実相, «Shobogenzo»)

How can you open the gate?

It is easy.

You have only to accept the world in front of you (=your hologram).

Then, what do you see after it opens itself?

Exactly the same scenery.

But do you see the difference?

Tao Te Ching Chapter 64-9 A thousand league travel

Today's Tao

A travel of a thousand leagues starts from beneath the feet. (Ch.64)

Don't be fooled by size or distance.

Space doesn't exist in Tao.

There is a famous story used as a Zen koan concerning space.

When Seppo Gison 雪峰義存 [Hsueh-feng I-tsun] asked Gensha Shibi 玄沙師備 [Hsuan-sha Shih-pei] why he would not go on a pilgrimage, the latter answered:

"Daruma / Bodhidharma 達磨 did not come to East Land (=China).

The Second Ancestor did not go to West Heaven (=India)."

達磨不来東土。

二祖不往西天。

(Keitoku dento roku / Record of the Transmission of the Lamp, No. 18 景徳伝燈録第十八)

Dogen explains:

"Gensha's answer 'Daruma / Bodhidharma 達磨 did not come to East Land' was not a ridiculous remark of whether he came or not.

It is the principle that lands have no earth at all".

玄沙道の達磨不来東土は来而不来の乱道にあらず。

大地無寸土の道理なり。

(Hensan 遍参, «Shobogenzo»)

Lands are a hologram.

So are East and West.

Therefore, there is "no earth", that is to say, no space.

All of them exist as catalysts.

Just remember.

The earth beneath your feet and the land thousands of miles away are asking you the same thing:

"Send Love (=Tao)."

☞«No Longer Human» is not a bad English title, but the title of Osamu Dazai's masterpiece is called «Ningen Shikkaku» in Japanese. A Japanese-English dictionary will tell you that the word "shikkaku" signifies failure or disqualification. Its antonym in Japanese is "gokaku". It is undoubtedly the happiest Japanese word in February and March, when most entrance examinations are held. "Ningen" means a human being. Dazai is declaring: "I flunked the examination as a human being!". What will happen if you fail it? Shusaku Endo, the author of «The Sea and Poison», «Silence», and «The Samurai», may answer: "Whether we succeed or fail, all of us go to «Deep River» eventually".

Tao Te Ching Chapter 64-8 Nine-story tower

Today's Tao

A nine-storeyed tower's construction begins with a small heap of earth. (Ch.64)

In Zen Buddhism, they say exactly the same thing.

For example, Dogen describes it as:

"to pick up one minute piece of dust and build a stupa of Old Buddha".

一微塵を拈じて古仏の塔廟を建立する

(Hotsumujoshin 発無上心, «Shobogenzo»)

The important point is what follows this.

He says:

"this is the act of sending Love".

これが発菩提心なり

[Note]
Literally, "this is the emission of  «Bodai Shin 菩提心 / the mechanism (=heart) of Bodhi (=the spiritual awakening, =the wisdom of Satori)»".
発 [hotsu]: emission.
菩提 [bodai]: the spiritual awakening or the wisdom of Satori.
心 [shin]: mechanism, mind, or heart.

(Ditto)

This is the hologram.

You can find the world inside one tiny mote of dust.

In other words, the mote of dust sends you Love.

You receive Love and project a tower or a stupa, which implies the rest of the world.

☞«Animated Classics of Japanese Literature» includes Yasunari Kawabata's «The Dancing Girl of Izu». The story is harmless and lots of Japanese boys and girls still read the Nobel prize winner's masterpiece. Nevertheless, if you think about the fact that the novelist later wrote «The Lake» and «House of the Sleeping Beauties», the seemingly innocent story between a student and a dancing girl will start shedding a different sort of light. On the other hand, Kafu Nagai's «A Strange Tale from East of the River» is a beautiful homage to the innocence and nonchalance of a woman illegally practicing world's oldest profession.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 62-5 Adorned acts

Today's Tao

Adorned acts can place a man above others. (Ch.62)

Not only "Adorned acts" but any act may seem to work.

"I have been helping poor animals all my life."

"I have been fighting against corruption."

"Let's save our planet."

All right, all right.

Uhhh, would you like to be a better person than others?

(Listen)

All right, all right.

The sole treasure is Tao.

It is hidden in your eye storage 眼蔵 [genzo], which is the hologram, the world.

Please think which is more important, the treasure or the storage box?

Don't act on your storage box.

Just love the treasure inside.

Modern businessmen look for the answers to the problems in economic battles. Here are some references. The book on the left is Yagyu, Munenori's «The Way of the Living Sword». Yagyu was an excellent swordsman, who was a close friend of Zen Master Takuan, the author of «The Unfettered Mind». The one on the right is Sun Tzu's «The Art of War» written probably in the 6th century BC. Researchers find some similarities between the book and Tao Te Ching. Master Takuan studied the latter and left a lecture book on it.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 45-5 Straight = Winding

Today's Tao

Big's straight seems winding. (Ch.45)

Does anything truly straight exist on the earth?

No.

Straightness only exists in concept.

What you see in the world is not exactly the same as what it really is.

After all, everything is part of your hologram.

In Tao, space does not exist.

Zen master Dogen says:

"学般若これ虚空なり。虚空は学般若なり。

[gaku hannya kore kokuu nari. kokuu ha gaku hannya nari.]

To let us learn what Tao is, the hologram exists.

The very act of learning Tao is the hologram."

(Makahannyaharamitsu 摩訶般若波羅蜜, «Shobogenzo»)

Tao Te Ching Chapter 42-10 Father of Teachings 2

Today's Tao

I definitely make this the father of teachings. (Ch.42)

What is the father of all the teachings?

It is the explanation of how Nothing / Form cycle works.

We discussed the process 1 to 4 yesterday.

Now, let's continue the explanation.

5. When its nature (=task) is completed, the process goes back to the beginning of Nothing = Everything.

6. People's thoughts exist because of the One. They are the same as heaven and earth (=material things, =holograms). They go back as well.

7. Going back to Nothing is called Dark Depth Attainment. It is the same as Big Natural Flow or Tao's integration. (☞See Tao by Matsumoto / Chapter 65 / Integration)

8. The cycle is so perfect that you are not aware at all. Once you are aware, you find it stupid and idiotic.

Once a cycle ends, another begins.

Remember?

Since Tao has no time, every step takes place simultaneously.

Therefore, imposing your way (judgment or act of influence) on others creates a hindrance against the free flow of the energy cycle.

That's why it is not recommended.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 42-8 Chuang Tzu's teachings

Today's Tao

There is something people teach. I teach it, too. (Ch.42)

I read the entire part of Chuang Tzu's writing concerning the birth of a hologram and Dark Depth Attainment.

At the very beginning, there is Nothing.

No existence. No names.

Where One rises up, there is One but it doesn't have a form yet.

Everything is born by getting this One.

This is called Attainment.

There are divisions in the One not yet formed.

Without intermission, without in-between space.

This is called Life.

The One flows and gives birth to things.

Things are completed and have discerning lines.

This is called Form.

Formed bodies keep the spirit.

Each of them has its rules.

This is called Nature.

When Nature is mastered, it goes back to the Attainment.

When the Attainment peaks, it is the same as the beginning.

Being the same means being void.

Being void means being big.

It unifies people's noisy speeches.

When they are unified, it is unified with heaven and earth.

This union is so perfect that they even know they are together.

It seems stupid.

It seems idiotic.

This is called Dark Depth Attainment.

It is the same as Big Natural Flow (=Tao's integration 大順).

Tao Te Ching Chapter 39-10 Earth unstable

Today's Tao

If earth were not stable, it might collapse. (Ch.39)

A: "Oh, my god, my god. Heaven will be torn apart. Earth will collapse. Do something for us, Master Bonbon!"

B: "This is God's punishment. You are bad, so God is punishing you."

C'mon, Master Bonbon. You must not say things like that.

No one is bad. No one will punish you.

The world is safe because it exists within you.

It is your hologram. It is the manifestation of Love.

How can it be unstable!

Let's look at Nikko's three wise monkeys every time we feel like complaining about the imperfection of the world.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 39-3 Earth

Today's Tao

Earth attained One and got stable. (Ch.39)

Heaven can be abstract, but earth is concrete.

They seem different, but both of them are part of your hologram.

The words "earth" and "stable" suggest space.

Space, as well as time, is part of the hologram.

Space is just a parameter to reconstruct the imaginary world in your mind.

Without Tao, no holograms.

Without holograms, no space.

Without you, .... Oh, no! It's impossible because you are the One, the fundamental energy Tao.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 38-4 Mercy

Today's Tao

The highest mercy is doing it and leaving no trace of the act. (Ch.38)

"I am doing something good for humanity."

"I am helping poor children."

Some people want to show off their mercy.

Even though you are able not to show your virtue, can you avoid thinking that you are acting some kind of mercy?

Mercy isn't mercy the moment you think it's merciful.

"Heaven and earth have no mercy. They treat everything as straw dogs" (No mercy 5-1)

Mercy is not natural because you judge that it is good.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 32-4 Fertile raindrops

Today's Tao

Heaven and earth harmonize with each other, so fertile raindrops fall. (Ch.32)

Heaven and earth.

You and non-you.

The outside world constitutes your feelings and thoughts, and your feelings and thoughts constitute the outside world.

"The true sutra is grasses, woods, you and non-you", says Zen Master Dogen. (Jishozanmai 自証三昧, «Shobogenzo»)

Tao Te Ching Chapter 23-5 Man's responsibility

Today's Tao

How can man keep on doing it for a long time if heaven and earth cannot do it. (Ch.23)

You are not responsible at all.

"Wait a minute, Matsumoto-san! You said: «I am responsible for everything.» yesterday."

Certainly I did.

I said: "true You are responsible because true You are Tao".

Please do not mix true You and your own self.

Your own self, or ego, not true You, is part of your hologram along with man, heaven, and earth.

The Today's Tao sentence means:

"Even heaven and earth's influence is ephemeral. How can a man or your own ego affect other objects in your hologram!".

Your own self is not responsible for anything.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 23-4 Heaven's responsibility

Today's Tao

Who is doing these? Heaven and earth are. (Ch.23)

Who is causing the high wind and downpour?

Of course, heaven and earth, the Nature is.

Who is provoking the global warming?

I know some people want to blame someone else.

Here, you can test yourself whether you truly embrace Lao Tzu's teachings.

Can you say:

"I am responsible for everything"?

True You are Tao, which is the source of your hologram.

"It is the government's fault!"

"Multinational companies are responsible!"

When you stop saying so, you truly make a step forward in Zen and Taoism.

There is no objective world to blame outside you.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 7-3 Live long

Today's Tao

Therefore, they can live long. (Ch.7)

Heaven and earth do not give birth to each other, and can live long.

Birth and death in the world is just a concept in our mind.

So everything lives eternally.

But what is "eternity"? Tao doesn't have time, does it?

Time is just a concept in our mind, isn't it?

Then, what is "our mind"?

Your mind is not true You. It is part of your hologram.

Don't worry, and stop asking yourself "Who am I?".

You are Tao and eternal.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 7-2 Heaven creates no earth

Today's Tao

The reason why heaven and earth are long and eternal is that they do not give birth to themselves. (Ch.7)

Time and space are created in our "mind".

The world we see in front of us is projected in our "mind".

The world itself doesn't create anything no matter how contrary it looks.

So, you don't have to worry about anything.

No disasters. No miseries. Unless «you» want to project them on your mind screen.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 25-2 Before heaven

Today's Tao

It is born before heaven and earth. (Ch.25)

It creates (or projects) your hologram, which includes your own self and the rest of the world.

If it is easier for you, you can interpret it as follows.

Your own brains, which are holograms, project in the mind the holographic images of the world (=heaven and earth) in order to enable you to comprehend it.

Time and space are concepts that your "mind" adds to restructure all the information into 3-dimensional moving and tangible images.

They are called holography.

Mata ashita. See you tomorrow.
