Tao Te Ching Chapter 67-2 Parents
Today's Tao
Simply I am Big, so I resemble an idiot who doesn't look like his parents. (Ch.67)
Big is a nickname of Tao. (☞See Ch. 25 Manifestation and Big 25-9)
Then, what is "an idiot who doesn't look like his parents"?
Please do not mix this expression with Bumo misho izen: before the father and the mother are born.
This expression is the translation of the Kanji / Chinese characters 不肖 [fusho].
It means an idiot, but the two characters originally signified "not to resemble the parents" (Osamu Kanaya, «Roshi 老子», Kodansha Gakujutsu Bunko)
Today's Tao sentence means:
"Simply true You are Tao, so you resemble an idiot who does not look like others in your hologram".
Don't be intelligent, and you will remember Tao is true You.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 64-2 Before materialization
Today's Tao
It is easy to treat a thing before it has appeared. (Ch.64)
Everything appears.
It is projected as a hologram.
The state before the projection is called "Bumo misho izen 父母未生以前" in Zen Buddhism.
It means "before the father and the mother are born".
Once you accept the mechanism between Tao and holograms, everything will be easy.
Master Dogen says:
"The life of right now exists in this mechanism;
this mechanism exists in the life of right now".
いまの生はこの機関にあり、この機関はいまの生にあり
(Zenki 全機, «Shobogenzo»)
Life is not the period between birth and saying good-bye to life.
Birth and "good-bye" take place simultaneously inside the mechanism.
Life is a timeless hologram in the mechanism between "the projecting" and "the projected".
Treat your life before the projection.
In other words, do nothing right now.

Tao answers your question!
☞Let's stop saying that they are different. Infinite Light / Mugeko 無碍光・無礙光 is another name of Zen (=Love, =Buddha), which is pointing at the fundamental energy Tao. The more names we create, the more confused we get. As Lao Tzu says, "The word does not stand for what it really is". («Tao Te Ching» Chapter 1). No wonder Daisetz Suzuki was more inclined to Tariki / Other-power later in his life. Let's start saying: "Other-power and Jiriki / Self-power are the same". If Self doesn't exist, how can they be different! Consult Daisetz Suzuki's «Buddha of Infinite Light»

Tao Te Ching Chapter 63-6 Complicated?
Today's Tao
Plan complicated things while they are easy. (Ch.63)
You surely agree to this, don't you?
Then, let's go a step further.
Well.
It says:
"while they are easy".
When is it exactly?
It is before things are created.
That is to say, before your hologram is projected.
It is called "Bumo misho izen 父母未生以前" in Zen Buddhism. (☞See also Tao by Matsumoto 63a Work no work)
It literally means "before your father and mother were born", but is a synonym of Tao.
Please remember there is no time in Tao.
So, it means "right now".
Right now right here your life may seem complicated, but in fact it is easy.
It is your hologram you project.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 59-7 Forever
Today's Tao
If you have the mother of the country, you can last forever. (Ch.59)
What does "the country" mean here?
As always "the country" means "your hologram".
Then, what does "the mother of the country" mean?
It means "the origin of your hologram", which is Tao.
Tao lasts forever.
So do you because true You are Tao.
Zen Master Dogen summarizes this:
"The big Tao is Juki." 大道は授記なり。
(Juki 授記 literally signifies "to distinguish" or "to predict". The kanji / Chinese character 授 [ju] means: to bestow, to grant, to teach, to instruct; 記 [ki]: a record, a description, a history, annals.)
"This Juki is 'Life and death comes and goes'. 授記これ生死去来なり。
This Juki is 'ten nooks and crannies of the whole world'." 授記これ尽十方界なり。
"Juki is the realization of Self; 授記は自己を現成せり。
Juki is the realized Self." 授記これ現成の自己なり。
Dogen also tells us not to think like others that Juki will take place after we have completed our self-mortification. よのつねに思うには、修行功満して作仏決定するとき授記すべしと学しきたるといえども,仏道はしかにはあらず。
(Juki 授記, «Shobogenzo»)
Life and death, the world, and your own self are part of the hologram.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 55-6 Male organ
Today's Tao
Although he doesn't know the intercourse of a male and a female yet, his male organ erects itself. (Ch.55)
A baby without intention or desire is in the state of Bumo Misho Izen 父母未生以前, which means "before the father and the mother are born".
The father, a male, meets the mother, a female in the valley, which is Tao.
The intercourse of a male and a female suggests the Yin Yang circle, which is the prayer wheel and the cycle of Tao's energy.
Your hologram will be projected in the cycle as a baby's male organ erects itself naturally.
Whether you are aware of it or not, the wheel called Life keeps on turning.
A baby doesn't know the mechanism.
Then, would you still like to know it?

Tao Te Ching Chapter 54-3 Descendants
Today's Tao
By doing so, descendants never cease to worship. (Ch.54)
Who are "descendants"?
Your holograms are.
Who are their ancestors, then?
Well, it should be called their mother rather than the ancestors.
It is Tao.
The holograms "never cease to worship" Tao.
They never cease to accept and love it.
The holograms, including your own self, are the medium.
The holographic medium stimulates the fundamental energy Tao, which is true You.
Thanks to the holograms, Tao never ceases to recreate itself.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 52-4 Defend the mother
Today's Tao
If you already know the child and return to defend the mother, you will be safe till the end of your life. (Ch.52)
You have to "know the child".
In other words, you have to know that the world in front of you is your hologram and a catalyst.
Accepting and loving your so-called reality, you will return to its beginning, which is the mother, who is Tao, which is true You.
"Defending" it means to remember that you are one with Tao.
Remember that you are always protected and safe because so-called danger exists only in your hologram (=so-called reality, =the world).
Don't be afraid.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 52-3 Attain the mother
Today's Tao
If you have already attained its mother, you know its child. (Ch.52)
Mother = Tao
Child = Hologram
"If you have already attained" Tao, what's gonna happen to you?
You will learn that true You are Tao and what you see is a hologram and catalyst to have you emit more of the fundamental energy Tao.
True you emits true you.
In other words, Tao emits Tao.
Life, the world, and Self among others are catalysts to stimulate the cycle.
The attainment of the mother, or the attainment of Tao, that is to say, Satori is to be part of it, which you already are.
Therefore, you don't seek Satori.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 52-2 Mother of the world
Today's Tao
You should call it the mother of the world under the sky. (Ch.52)
The "beginning" is the mother of the hologram.
Tao is the mother of the world.
In Zen Buddhism, it is called Bumo misho izen 父母未生以前, which means "the state before the father and the mother are born".
Tao is the source of the constant creation of holograms.
Time and space are parameters to reconstruct information as a hologram in your "mind" (which is part of the hologram).
That's why Master Dogen says:
"Matsu mo toki nari. Take mo toki nari.
松も時なり。竹も時なり。
Pine trees are time. Bamboo trees are time, too."
(Uji 有時, «Shobogenzo»)
There is no time in Tao. Therefore, the beginning is the end.
Only the mother exists.
She is true You.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 41-4 Born from nothing
Today's Tao
You are born from nothing. (Ch.41)
Your own "self" is born from Tao (=nothing).
That's why Tao is your mother. (☞See Eat mother 20-21)
Tao is the source of your own self along with other elements in the hologram.
The easiest way might be just thinking that "self" is an illusion.
If it is too outrageous to accept, Zen master Dogen will give you an idea:
[Isshu soban no jiko] 一珠走盤の自己 (Kokyo 古鏡, «Shobogenzo»).
It means:
"Self is like a ball running on the board."
In other words,
"Self is like a ball running on your hologram."

Besides, three cheers for Kurosawa's decision not to use the original title of the short story. "Rash-o-mon" sounds much nicer than the original where all three words end with a vowel. It might have been quite difficult for English and French speakers to pronounce "yaboo no knack car" while Italian and Spanish speakers are able to say both titles with no difficulty.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 41-3 Born from you
Today's Tao
Everything under the sky is born from you. (Ch.41)
What are things?
What is existence?
It is your own self.
Zen master Dogen says:
"You extend yourself and make you the world."
われを排列しおきて尽界とせり [ware o hairetsu shiokite jinkai to seri]
(Uji 有時 , «Shobogenzo»)
The master says clearly:
Time = Things = Self.
Your own self is the mother of the world.
For it projects the hologram of the world, including your own self.
Why including your own self?
Because the world IS your own self.
It is the projector and projected at the same time.
That's why there is no difference between your own self and the rest of the world.
That's why I ask you not to judge.
This is another Kanreisu (a bar / spring) of Zen and Tao.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 22-14 Return it!
Today's Tao
Truly, he returns it completely. (Ch.22)
"Return", "go back", "twisted", and "complete".
What did Lao Tzu want to tell us with these words?
First, we "twist", or swap, the cause and the result. It is Reverse Thinking. The Yin Yang circle gives you some image.
Then, we can return our hologram to the state where it was projected.
In Taoism, the state is matriarchally called the mother.
In Zen Buddhism, it is called Bumo misho izen (Before Father and Mother are born).
They mean Tao, which can be also called Buddha, Zen, or Love.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 22-4 Before parents' birth
Today's Tao
Worn out therefore new. (Ch.22)
It is exactly the same as breaking the mirror in Zen. (☞See also Tao by Matsumoto / Chapter 15 / Man who knows Tao)
If you want to be new, you should wear out your hologram.
Then, you can return to Tao, or Bumo misho izen 父母未生以前 in Zen.
Bumo misho izen means «Before Father and Mother are born».
It is a very important concept describing the state before holographic images are projected.
To "return" to the state, Reverse Thinking is useful.
Some people thank someone up there for letting them live.
With Reverse Thinking, you live in order to say: "Thank you".
Then, you are as new as a newborn baby whose father and mother have not yet been born.

And value eating the mother. (Ch.20)
A: "Why don't we go to a restaurant and have a couple of mothers?"
B: "Fantastic! I adore a double cheese Big Mother with ice-cold Tsing Tao beer."

Of course, it is not a mother you know of by the word.
"The mother" signifies Tao.
You can call it "universal and unconditional Love", or the birth place of everything.
We "eat" Love the energy through our hologram, which is our life.
Life is a restaurant where they serve the mother.
Bon appetite!

Tao Te Ching Chapter 5-7 Stay empty

Today's Tao
The best way is to stay empty. (Ch.5)
To stay empty isn't to think nothing.
Can you really think nothing?
In Zen Buddhism, it is called "Bumo misho izen".
Literally, it means "before Father and Mother are born".
It is the state before things are created, or your hologram is projected (in the "brain").
It is Tao.
So, to stay empty means to stay with Tao.

Today's Tao
What you can name is the mother of all the material beings. (Ch.1)
Dogen called it "mountains, rivers, and lands" ([sen ga daichi] 山河大地).
What you can name is the visible world. It is your hologram.
All the material things are, in fact, projected in your head.
Otherwise, our brains are not capable of comprehend what is going on.
Then, a question arises.
What is "I"?
Where am "I"?
Dogen answers: "You are mountains, rivers, and lands. You are there".
You project them.
They project you.
