Tao Te Ching Chapter 81-5 Act for others

Today's Tao

Although he does everything for others, he has more. (Ch.81)

First, who are "the others"?

The others are you.

All the other beings are an extended part of your own self.

The self under your control, Jiko 自己, and the self beyond your control, Tako 他己. (☞See Moonlight and Dewdrops / Dogs and Roosters 80-12)

They are the same hologram.

Therefore, Jiriki 自力/ Self-power, and Tariki 他力/ Other-power are the same. (☞See «Related Articles» below)

These concepts are useful tools to reduce resistance.

Second, what is the act of doing everything for others?

It is that of doing nothing.

Doing nothing is sending Love (=Tao) by accepting all.

This is the true Za-zen 坐禅. This is the true sitting.

You receive Tao's energy through a hologram (=the world, =your life) without resistance by accepting all.

Then, you emit the energy while projecting a hologram.

Everything exists to maintain this cycle.

You live for this cycle. (☞See Eternal cycle 58-5)

Therefore, the most religious act of all is living.

Living is a catalyst, so there is neither better living nor worse living as long as you are emitting Love.

What is happening in your hologram doesn't have the slightest importance.

You are doing nothing no matter what you are doing.

In other words, you are sending love no matter what you are doing.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 80-13 Life without intervention

Today's Tao

But they get old and end their life without coming and going between their countries. (Ch.80)

"Without coming and going" is a key (=Kanreisu) to understand how holograms work.

It suggests "no intervention", "no interference".

Why is Lao Tzu against the interference to a hologram?

A dewdrop reflecting the moonlight. (☞See Dogs and Roosters 80-12)

This is a beautiful metaphor of the Tao/hologram mechanism, Shin 心.

The moonlight is Tao, which is true You.

The whole world is a dewdrop reflecting the moonlight, which is a hologram.

Without the modern concept of a hologram, Zen Buddhists needed to invent the expression "Eye storage / 眼蔵 [genzo]".

In terms of our interpretation of space, there is only one hologram, which includes all the beings, objects and intangible information such as thoughts alike.

In terms of our interpretation of time, there are a myriad of holograms, which are being created simultaneously.

"Life" is a name given to one group of them. (☞See Out-Tao (Heresy) Seniya / Gedo Senni / Settled 80-9)

"Life without coming and going" implies that there is no causation between holograms or dewdrops.

No causation, therefore no intervention. It is no use.

The unique causation is 複 [fuku] / return, which is to keep Tao's energy cycling and recycling.

A hologram stimulates Tao.

Tao gives birth to a hologram.

In conclusion, there is only the receiving and giving of Love, which is also called Tao.

This receiving and giving of Tao's energy takes place on your face. (☞See Face Transmission / Menju / Beauty 80-8)

That's why we don't have our face in the hologram.

Have you ever seen your face directly?

Lao Tzu answers your question!

«Recommended Books 10» Which is more dangerous, nature or human beings? To many Japanese, the question doesn't make sense because they think human beings are part of nature. The word "artificial" is not an antonym of "natural". The outside world is filled with plenty of Kami, gods, which may help and protect us, but sometimes in a whimsical way destroy us, destroy us completely. Please read Masuji Ibuse's short story «Salamander» first. The work is considered a masterpiece in Japan, and many students read it at school. Into a cave under the stream, a frog was swept. The salamander blocked the entrance of the cave with his body. The salamander had been captured there because his body was too big to get away. Now he had a "friend". If you have some time, before you go straight to «Black Rain», please read his «Castaways». It is about a young fisherman cast away by a typhoon and rescued by an American boat when it was illegal to leave Japan. Their docile acceptance of what it is and what it is happening will certainly give you another flavor when you read «Black Rain». Although Shohei Imamura's film is excellent, the end of the story is not precisely the same. It is worth reading the novel. Which after-taste do you prefer?

Tao Te Ching Chapter 77-4 No excess / Why does history repeat itself?

Today's Tao

It reduces excess. (Ch.77)

We used to adore excess, especially excessive consumption.

When you consumed food, energy, or money excessively, you were considered wealthy and sometimes provoked jealousy in others.

Now, the pendulum of our collective awareness seems to have changed its direction.

These days, when you waste our natural resources, you look a bit idiotic.

I don't know how long this tendency of post-consumer society will last.

Probably, one century.

Maybe, 50 years.

Who knows.

But one thing is sure.

One day, our social pendulum will go backwards.

Why does history repeat itself?

History is part of your hologram, which imitates the cycle of Tao.

Tao's circle does not have excess.

So, a hologram doesn't like excess.

Tao's cycle repeats itself.

So does history.

[Note]
Please don't forget that Tao doesn't have time. All the history in your hologram is created simultaneously.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 77-2 Suppress doubt?

Today's Tao

It suppresses a high one. (Ch.77)

Why do we doubt?

Why does doubt come into your hologram?

Because Tao suppresses "a high one".

As we discussed at Hoben gate / Soft and Weak 76-10, a soft, weak, and high thing means a hologram.

Tao suppresses the hologram.

It is part of Tao's cycle.

Something high has to come down.

Something low has to go up. (☞See Strong steroid 30-11)

This is what "bending a bow" suggests. (☞See Bend a bow 77-1)

A hologram reflects the characteristics of the cycle.

First, Tao gives us doubt.

Like the other elements in a hologram, doubt is Love in disguise.

Second, we clear the doubt and discover Love.

Third, we give thanks to the hologram while sending Love.

The sequence of your holograms, or your life, is what Zen Buddhists call "Koan 公案".

Tao Te Ching Chapter 74-2 Don't terrify them

Today's Tao

How can you terrify them by ending their life? (Ch.74)

Reincarnation is the creation and re-creation of a hologram.

It is not the story of a child in an exotic country who speaks about his former life in the language of the exotic country, not in the language he was supposed to be using while living the former life.

Tao is the exchange of the energy.

Every time the exchange takes place, Tao creates a hologram as a catalyst.

The end of life is the end of one cycle of this process.

Another one begins simultaneously.

Life is a catalyst, that is to say, an illusion.

That's why they say in Zen Buddhism:

"不生 不滅

[fusho fumetsu]

No life. No end of life".

Do we have to be afraid of the end of a holographic catalyst?

People in the world are not terrified at all by the end of a hologram/life, Lao Tzu says.

Of course not because they are just holographic characters in your catalytic movie.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 68-5 No competition

Today's Tao

This is called attainment by no competition. (Ch.68)

Why does Lao Tzu ask you not to compete or fight?

Because competition and fight are forms of resistance.

They are refusal of acceptance.

First, you accept the world, which is your hologram.

Second, you are one with Tao, that is to say, you remember that true You are Tao and your own self is just part of the hologram.

Third, remembering You = Tao is the attainment of Tao. This is also called Dark Depth Attainment 玄徳 [gen toku].

Fourth, while accepting your hologram, you emit the fundamental energy Tao, which is True You or which you can call Love.

Fifth, Tao, or Love, is out there. Now you go back to the first step and accept it through the hologram.

We keep this cycle.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 67-14 Heaven, Love, Tao

Today's Tao

Heaven surely saves those who send Love, and guards them by sending Love. (Ch.67)

Heaven, or the heavens, mean a hologram here.

Tao sends Love through your hologram.

The world is part of the hologram, which functions as a catalyst.

You receive Love through it.

And you send Love back to Tao by accepting and loving your hologram.

This is the cycle of Tao.

Everything exists in order to maintain this cycle.

But remember?

True You are Tao.

Tao is Love.

The exchange of the energy takes place in one entity, which we call Tao, Love, or true You.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 65-8 Return to Tao

Today's Tao

You return to Tao with things. (Ch.65)

There are two key functions here.

1. "Return".

The word indicates the energy cycle.

This cycle is Tao, therefore, true You.

Everything returns to Tao.

This is Big Natural Flow, that is to say, Tao's perfect integration 大順 [taijun]. (☞See Chuang Tzu's teachings 42-8)

2. "With things".

The word "things" suggests a hologram.

The key is the preposition "with".

This implies a hologram's function as a catalyst.

Your mind and body are part of your hologram along with mountains, rivers, flowers, and stars, in short, with all other elements of what you see (and you cannot see).

All of them return to the neutral state of Tao (=the state before your hologram is projected, =Bumo misho izen).

What we call "one life" is the emission and return of a hologram.

But, remember there is no time in Tao.

The moment something begins, it ends.

The moment something ends, it begins.

No life, no end of life.

不生不滅 [fusho fumetsu].

Tao Te Ching Chapter 63-11 Casual promises

Today's Tao

Casual promises surely lack faith. (Ch.63)

What does Lao Tzu mean by "faith"?

Faith in what?

He asks us to have the faith in Tao's mechanism.

Do you believe in the cycle of energy between you and non-you?

Yin and Yang are the symbolic names for the sending end and the receiving end of the energy.

It doesn't matter which is which.

From another point of view, it is the reciprocal creation of your own self and the hologram.

The word "promises" should be interpreted as expressing one's opinion.

Don't you speak too much to convince others?

In Zen Buddhism, they say 不戯論 [fu ke ron], which means:

"Don't argue casually".

If you speak too much, it shows that you do not have much faith in "Do nothing".

Tao Te Ching Chapter 61-11 Go down

Today's Tao

If each wants to get what she wants, the big one should go down. (Ch.61)

All Tao wants is to cycle.

To do so, it has to "go down", or be submissive.

Remember?

True You are Tao.

So, Lao Tzu is talking about your attitude here.

Be submissive and activate Dark Depth Female.

A hologram is not Tao.

But, accept your hologram, or the world, as if it was Tao itself.

Then, your spiritual quest is over.

Now you know the starting point and the goal are the same.

This is the Yin Yang circle.

They are friends that console the hearts and souls of tired Japanese workers, students, and children, who more desperately than ever want to leave this reality for a virtual one. Nevertheless, it is not appropriate to blame technology for their daydreaming because the wish of escape is something rather "traditional" there. Please look at the samurai-like man on the left. He is in fact a fisherman called «Urashima Taro». He is riding a turtle, which is taking him to a "Paradise under the Sea". To modern-day Hawaii, Tahiti, or New Caledonia? It doesn't matter. The turtle is surely taking a tired Japanese worker to the paradise to which his ancestors once belonged.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 60-6 Returns to each other

Today's Tao

Hence, the attainment returns to each other. (Ch.60)

There are two key concepts of Taoism here.

One is "each other" and the other is "return".

"Each other" suggests the two elements: Tao and a hologram, or the creator and the created, which can be regarded as "the stimulated and the stimulating".

"Return" is the principle of the Tao / hologram cycle.

Tao creates a hologram (=the world).

The hologram stimulates Tao.

The hologram returns to Tao.

Tao creates another hologram.

Please remember.

True You are Tao.

Therefore, you project one world.

The world stimulates you.

You accept the world with love (=Tao).

You project another world with more love.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 59-6 Never-ending cycle

Today's Tao

If you don't see the end of this cycle, you can keep the country. (Ch.59)

A: "Master Bonbon, banks are bankrupt. Our country is collapsing. Do something for us!"

B: "Trust your bank managers and political leaders. Leave your money in the stock market. Meditate and wish that stock prices will go up."

Remember?

When Lao Tzu says "the country", it means "your hologram".

Zen Master Fuyo Dokai 芙蓉道楷 (Fu-jung Tao-k'ai) called it "blue mountains".

He said:

"Blue mountains walk constantly. 青山常運歩"

(正法眼蔵「山水経」より)

This is the Tao / hologram cycle.

It is Hokke ten hokke 法華転法華: Buddha's manifestation turns Buddha's manifestation (=Tenborin 転法輪).

This cycle of the manifestation of Love will never stop.

Don't worry.

従来の転いまもさらにやむことなし

In the chapter of Hokke ten hokke in «Shobogenzo», Master Dogen guarantees you that the spin of this cycle has never stopped nor will stop.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 59-5 Cycle's end

Today's Tao

If you can beat any, you won't see the end of this cycle. (Ch.59)

You can beat any because you don't judge, because you know it is your hologram.

You also know that the hologram is a catalyst.

The catalyst is there to stimulate you.

But, what does "to stimulate you" mean?

It means "to stimulate the cycle of the energy".

You are, in fact, the cycle of the energy.

The cycle keeps on turning forever because time doesn't exist in Tao.

Time exists only in your mind.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 59-4 Repeat Attainment

Today's Tao

Repeat and accumulate the attainment, and you can beat any. (Ch.59)

"Repeat" your Dark Depth Attainment.

That means: "Don't forget that true You are Tao".

Is it difficult?

You forget it once in a while, right?

Is there any method to remember it?

Yes, there is.

Just do nothing.

You may want to ask me what "do nothing" means, right?

You don't have to do anything while accepting and loving the world as it is.

You can be aware that you are turning the Tao/hologram cycle (=the prayer wheel, =Yin Yang circle).

By turning it, you are sustaining Tao itself.

Of course, you can beat any because you are the one who projects it in your holographic world.

You are its master.

So, don't judge.

How can you translate a Kotodama (=the spirit of a word) based on and developed from onomatopoeia into an abstract concept! In this sense, Yukio Mishima's works are a good and accessible entrance gate to Japanese literature since the author is supposed to have detested the dependence on onomatopoetic expressions.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 58-7 Odd criterion

Today's Tao

A criterion returns to be odd. (Ch.58)

Why do we suffer from something?

Because we have criteria concerning health, beauty, social status, or whatever.

Having criteria and judging oneself is a form of resistance.

"But I am not perfect!"

Is that what you want to say?

Well, certainly a criterion blocks the natural flow of Tao.

It bothers Tao's cycle to turn around.

Then the criterion/resistance creates oddities in your hologram.

That's why you suffer.

But don't worry.

Remember?

Everything, including all the oddities, "returns" to Tao, the ultimate security.

Your suffering is just a catalyst.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 58-5 Eternal cycle

Today's Tao

No one knows the end of this cycle. (Ch.58)

Fortune and misfortune, Yin and Yang, Tao and holograms; all of them are the same, the same eternal cycle. (☞See Ch.59)

This cycle is the prayer wheel and the wheel of Buddha's manifestation (=Horin 法輪).

Of course, no one knows its end because there is no end.

No one knows its beginning, either, because there is no beginning.

That's why in Buddhism they say:

"No life, no end of life / 不生不滅 [fusho fumetsu]".

In other words, we are living in the eternal cycle, which is the constant beginning.

Fortune and misfortune are one.

Yin and Yang are one.

Tao and holograms are one.

Then, why do they appear different?

In order to give us an opportunity to remember that they are one.

☞It is a good idea to read and compare these two books on Samurai. Inazo Nitobe was a Christian and wrote «Bushido: The soul of Japan» in 1900. Bushido signifies "The way of Samurai / Tao of Samurai". Yamamoto, Tsunetomo was a real Samurai and "wrote" «Hagakure: The art of Samurai» about 1716. Hagakure signifies "Hidden by the leaves".
